Harpy Sunday

The Los Angeles Chapter of the American Harp Society had their Spring Fling today where they honored the student Finzi scholarship winners, something I remember being a part of back in 2008. Following the performances of select student performers, I had the opportunity to perform with the Los Angeles Harp Ensemble, a group I have been a part of since 2014. Our program consisted of both old and new works from “Every time We Say Goodbye” to “Space Odyssey”. The newest member of the group is Pacific Harps very own, Carolyn Sykes. I had a great time playing with this group of harpists, and I look forward to keeping this group alive… gigs anyone?

Following this performance, I raced off to meet the wonderful Aiym Almas and her band to record a live video for the Late Nite Music Club. It is always so much fun for me to play with this group because it’s so different from the norm as a harpist. The last time I played with them was at the Battle of the Bands at Howl at the Moon. Today’s event was quite the adventure. I actually came to the recording place before the Spring Fling but they were very behind schedule that we thought it best for me to perform then come back. However the Spring Fling also went a little overtime so I raced from Glendale back to downtown LA for the recording. The good news is I made it on time and got to do two live takes with everyone. Again, it was a great time and I had so much fun! Below is the final product:
